Obtaining/extending working residence permit
Good to know:
EU citizens are not required to hold a working residence permit, the employer only needs to make an anonym registration at the Labour Office. In order to work legally in Hungary, EU citizens need an EU registration card which is valid for an unlimited period of time.
Non-EU citizens need to have a working residence permit. The work and residence permit (were converted in one single process, merged permit) have to be extended annually or every two years depending on the validity of the documents. In some special cases the Hungarian Immigration Office can issue the working residence permit even for 3 years duration.
Since the international assignment as category was banned by the Hungarian government there is a so called ICT residence permit (Residence Permit for the Purpose of Intra-corporate Transfer) which can be applied also for 3 years validity.
