Permanent residence permit

Good to know:

In case you have had a valid working residence permit uninterruptedly for three years you have the right to apply for settlement / permanent residence permit. Please note that if you have Hungarian citizen relatives, you do not have to wait three years.

With this process you do not necessarily become a Hungarian citizen, it depends on your intention.

The advantage of this procedure is that once you receive the Hungarian ID card you do not have to have a working residence permit in order to be able to work in Hungary, and you can change your job without additional immigration process. Permanent residence permit can be applied for 5 years validity.
