Permanent residence permit

Good to know:

Third country citizens who have had a valid Hungarian residence permit uninterruptedly for three years have the right to apply for settlement / permanent residence permit. In case the third applicant has Hungarian citizen relatives, he/she does not have to wait three years.

With this process you do not necessarily become a Hungarian citizen, it depends on your intention.

The advantage of this procedure is that once you receive the Hungarian ID card, you do not have to have a working residence permit/residence permit in order to be able to work in Hungary. You can change your job and have new employer without changing your Hungarian permit. It is valid for 5 years.
